Places / Research basis

Completeness needs a method.

Wagner Welten treats places not as loose travel tips, but as verifiable historical records. The current research register contains 124 published entries across 14 countries and remains an open register for further expansion. Every published entry needs a concrete Wagner connection, a geographic identity and at least one traceable source.

01

Concrete connection

The registry includes residences, workplaces, theatres, premiere sites, museums, archives, monuments, graves, landscapes and lost locations with a documented connection to Richard Wagner.

02

Sources before assumption

Institutional websites, archives, museums, heritage authorities, historical address books and scholarly literature take priority. Wikidata and Wikipedia are discovery aids, not sufficient evidence on their own.

03

Separate history from the present

Historical significance remains in the record. Opening hours, prices and access are not copied, but linked to the official institution.

04

No artificial volume

Ordinary street names, modern venues without an independent historical Wagner connection and vague marketing associations are not included automatically.

05

Open research register

New candidates are collected, then verified and only afterwards added to the public directory. The dataset is exportable and can continue editorially.

Dataset for this edition

The published records can be downloaded as JSON or CSV for editorial review. The editorial dataset does not carry a blanket open-reuse licence. Sources remain attached to each record; images retain their individually stated rights.

Discover candidates

The project contains a Wikidata discovery script. It produces candidate records only and never publishes new places automatically.npm run places:discover
